Small Business Saturday: Five small businesses to support in Jackson

In 2010, American Express established Small Business Saturday to advocate for small businesses.

A year later, the U.S. Senate unanimously passed a resolution to support the day. According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, consumers spent an estimated $19.8 billion at hometown retailers and restaurants on Small Business Saturday in 2020.

The SBA reports there are more than 32.5 million small businesses nationwide. About half of all American workers own or work at small businesses, which create two out of three net new jobs.
