Small plane crashes in Groton, no one hurt

A small plane crash landed and hit a house in the town of Groton on Monday, but no one was hurt, police said.

The accident was reported at about 10:40 p.m. after the plane hit an occupied house on Ring Drive at Donna Drive, police said Tuesday. Two people in the aircraft were able to get out themselves and were taken to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London, police said.

The crash did not spark a fire, but area homes were evacuated as a precaution. The incident is under investigation, police said.
