Small plane makes emergency landing on I-355, state police says

A small passenger plane made an emergency landing on Interstate 355 Tuesday afternoon, Illinois State Police said.

State police responded to the plane landing on the right shoulder of southbound I-355 near Bolingbrook in Will County around 2 p.m.

The plane was coming from Middleton, Wisconsin, and on its way to Downers Grove when it “experienced mechanical problems” and had to land, state police said.

The plane’s pilot, the only occupant, was uninjured, state police said. No automobiles or objects on the interstate were hit when the plane landed.
