Smith Gilbert Gardens host fundraising runs
Oct. 27—Smith Gilbert Gardens in Kennesaw recently hosted The Garden Gallop, which included a 1 mile Fun Run, a 5K and a Tot Trot to raise money for its foundation.
The Garden Gallop was part of the Grand Prix 5K series of races throughout North Georgia. Two Marietta residents took home prizes: Becky Godbee, an Atlanta Fine Homes Sotheby's International Realty Top Producer from the Cobb Office, and her son, Peyton, participated in the 5K. Peyton won first place in his division and Becky won a gift card to The Big Peach Running Co.
Money raised will support the Garden's programs including Healthier You, which sponsors classes in the Gardens to encourage wellness.
The 16-acre Smith Gilbert Gardens on Pine Mountain Road in Kennesaw has more than 3,000 varieties of plants, many of which are rare species. In addition to walking trails, the Gardens include water features, sculpture and a tea house.
