Smith: Preserving what makes our community so special

My name is Diane Smith, and I’d like to take this opportunity to tell you a little bit about myself and about my vision for our community.

I’m a life-long resident of Doylestown I and am respectfully asking for your vote as I run for State Representative for the 29th Legislative District.

My husband Ed and I reside in Doylestown Township and, in September, celebrated 39 years of marriage together. We are a close-knit family and we enjoy creating lasting memories with our three wonderful children and their families whenever possible. I am blessed to have such a supportive family by my side on this journey.

I am committed to making a difference and protecting what our community stands for. I am passionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic about running for this office and representing the constituents of the 29th District both here and in Harrisburg.

I worked as a District Manager for the past 10 years under both State Representative Marguerite Quinn and State Representative Shelby Labs, both serving the 143rd Legislative District, so I have the experience and insight needed to serve you, my neighbors.

In addition, for the past 19 years, I have been a successful Realtor with Class Harlan Real Estate in Doylestown.

I have worked closely with Harrisburg staff, government officials, school districts, business leaders and thousands of area residents. I know the issues and concerns that matter to our community and I want to utilize my experience, knowledge and contacts to help the people of Buckingham Township, Chalfont Borough, Doylestown Township, Doylestown Borough, New Britain Borough, New Hope Borough, and Solebury Township.

We must work to protect our environment, support small businesses, expand access to affordable healthcare, and provide better educational opportunities for our children. Additionally, I am committed to finding new and creative ways to improve our infrastructure and public services while not burdening families and small businesses with higher taxes.

Like so many of you, I am tired of the partisan bickering that leads to nothing being done on the issues that matter most to our families.

As our next State Representative, I am committed to working with colleagues in both parties to get things done on behalf of our District. I do not believe that any one Party has a monopoly on good ideas, and we cannot continue to operate with our partisan blinders on. I will lead by example in this important effort.

I am passionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic about representing the "new" 29th District. I am committed to using my legislative knowledge and experience to represent you. Being your voice in Harrisburg is a responsibility I will take very seriously.

With your vote, you have my promise that I will hard work each and every day on behalf of every one of our residents to protect what makes our community so special.
