An artist’s renditions of life in Chicago and surrounding areas are coming to a gallery in Geneseo.
Artist Joe Ruck’s works will be exhibited at the Smith Studio Gallery during February and March. The exhibit is free and open to the public. The gallery is located at 124 S. State Street in Geneseo and is open Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Ruck is a painter and sculptor from Campton Hills, Ill. His paintings capture glimpses of life from Chicago and the surrounding area. He creates artwork using oil paints applied with a brayer (roller) instead of a traditional brush and using a tapestry of overlapping strokes. This approach is eye-catching when viewed from a distance and up close. The subjects of Ruck’s work range from people, animals and landscapes to structures, still life and machinery.
