SMITHFIELD, RI — Smithfield Town Manager Randy Rossi on Wednesday signed an executive order expanding outdoor restaurant seating in the town and expediting the approval process for applications.
Gov. Gina Raimondo announced on Tuesday that in-person restaurant service will be allowed in outdoor seating only as of May 18, as part of a phased reopening of the state's economy amid the coronavirus health emergency.
Outdoor seating must meet state restrictions regarding table spacing for social distancing purposes, and other town and state guidelines. Applications and guidelines for those wishing to apply for expanding seating can be found here.
