Are you a local business owner or marketer in Smithtown? We'd love to start connecting local businesses with our amazing readers. Learn more about how it works.

Here are the top stories in Smithtown today:

  1. Adopt Apu & Manjula. Currently, there are a variety of male and female cats and kittens available to adopt or foster. "If you are looking for a fun-loving, yarn tossing ball of love, stop by the Kitten Nursery or the Cat Condos at the Smithtown Animal Shelter and find a PURR-fect soulmate or two," the shelter stated. (Smithtown Patch)

  2. In celebration of Black History Month: Get ready for a spectacular evening featuring the New York City-based dance company Complexions Contemporary Ballet as they perform two new full-length pieces on the same program for the very first time. “Woke” and “Love Rocks” will be performed in one full-length evening program on Saturday, Feb. 5, at 8 p.m. at Staller Center, in Stony Brook. Tickets for Complexions Dance are on sale now. Go to stallercenter.com for more information or call 631-632-ARTS. (Stony Brook News)

  3. The Whiskey Barrel, located at 138 Main St. in Port Jefferson, is getting "Yelped" with outstanding ratings. Visitors are not only raving about their burgers and wings, but their beverages as well. "They have an awesome selection of top-shelf whiskey/bourbon and high-end craft beer." said one happy patron. (Daily Voice)

  4. N95s are coming our way! We are all requesting free at-home COVID tests, so it makes sense that N95s would come next. The Biden administration plans to give out 400 million free N95 masks in the coming weeks. The free masks will be made available to the public at thousands of local pharmacies and community health centers nationwide starting late next week, according to a White House official, and will mark "the largest deployment of personal protective equipment in U.S. history."
