Smithtown Nissan Closes Abruptly

ST. JAMES, NY — Smithtown Nissan will be closed temporarily, the business said in an email to customers Friday.

The car dealership will not reopen until further notice and cited "unforeseen circumstances" as the reason for its closure.

"We apologize for the inconvenience, and thank you for your understanding in these trying times," the statement reads. "We hope to announce our reopening shortly. Thank you for all your years of support. We look forward to continuing to be your trusted location for your Nissan Sales and Service."

Many businesses have struggled due to economic issues that have arisen during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Center for Automotive Research is projecting 2020 U.S. sales of about 13 million vehicles, down from a pre-pandemic forecast of around 17 million, USA Today reported.

Smithtown Nissan is located at 535 Middle Country Road in St. James.
