Smokin' Jazz and Barbecue Blues Festival to be held at Mt Brighton on Sept. 8-9

BRIGHTON — The Greater Brighton Area Chamber of Commerce and Bank of Ann Arbor's Smokin' Jazz and Barbecue Blues Festival will return Sept. 8-9, this time at Mt Brighton.

The event will run 5-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday at 4141 Bauer Road. The change in venue is due to ongoing streetscaping construction in downtown Brighton.

"We wanted to continue the event but were limited as to where we could fit it," said Linda Carey, director of events. "Mt Brighton came through and are allowing us to have it there. We'll bring it back to our beautiful new Main Street next year."

The event launched after Chamber President and CEO Pam McConeghy and her husband, Kevin, attended Ribfest in Naperville, Illinois, and decided it was a great event to bring to Brighton.

"(It) brings people in from all over," McConeghy said. "We love the diversity it brings."

Vendors are expected to include Royal Treats and Eats, Tony's Dogs, Great Lakes Eatz and Treats, Grand Traverse Pie Company, Truckin Waffles, O'Brien BBQ, The Smoke N Pig BBQ, Cinnamon Nuts and More, and Smokehouse 52 BBQ.

2 Stones Events will provide live music, with four bands playing each day. The schedule includes:

  • 5 p.m. Doug Horn

  • 6:15 p.m. Oopapada/Dr. Prof. Leonard King

  • 7:30 p.m. Joseph and The Velozians
