SMS girls first at Kiwanis

The middle school cross country races were part of the 58th annual Kiwanis Invitational in Sturgis on Saturday. It was a good day for the Sturgis Middle School girls, who won with 59 total points.

Madelyn Oswald also ran to first place in the event, she posted a time of 13:10.02, just narrowly beating Kalamazoo Homeschool’s Elyana Davis’ time of 13:10.06.

The Kalamazoo Homeschool came in second place with 72 points, Coldwater Legg was third with 78 points and Constantine came in fourth with 102.

Eleanor Park ran to third place for the Trojans with a time of 13:31, Graycee Cloutier came in 16th place at 14:19 and Carolina Garcia finished 23rd overall at 14:33. Olivia Green ran a time of 14:54 to finish 31st, Ally Farber came in 36th position at 15:14 and Lulu Park ran a time of 15:30 to finish 38th overall.

Also running for Sturgis was Maddie Roberts in 59th at 17:12, Siana Arreola in 62nd at 17:20, Raydin Spence in 71st at 18:01, Claire Propst in 82nd at 19:39 and Brooklyn Draper in 86th at 20:09.

Morgan Niblock led Constantine in sixth position at 13:34. Everlee Carpenter came in 19th place at 14:27 and Ava Muncie finished 29th at 14:51. Also running for Constantine was Anna Davidhizar in 30th at 14:53, Madelyn Hayes in 40th place at 15:35, Abigail Robinson in 44th at 15:55, Allana Culifer in 53rd position at 16:31, Layne Gross in 69th at 17:48 and Josie Schnepp in 80th at 18:57.

Colon’s Taylie Burgess came in fifth place overall at 13:31. Caitlin Knauss was 96th at 24:20.The Kalamazoo Homeschool came in first place with 52 points. Hillsdale Academy came in second with 77 points, Sturgis finished third with 88. Constantine came in ninth at 260, Colon finished 10th at 286 points.

Sturgis was led by Carter Oswald in fourth place at 11:52. Caleb Hohn raced to a time of 12:18 to finish 10th and Micaiah Arreola finished 26th at 13:12 while Cooper Barkby ran to 28th place at 13:13. Brody Currier’s time of 13:18.08 was 30th, Henry Ebert came in 3st at 13:18.42.

Also running for Sturgis on the day was Simon Phillips in 40th overall at 13:45, Easton Barkby in 44th at 13:53, Seth Larimer in 49th overall at 14:08 and Tyler Veasy in 53rd place at 14:29. Ash Staffen’s time of 14:44 was good for 63rd, Drew Holtz finished 64th at 14:46, Anthony Park came in 69th at 15:03, Cooper Hohn was 73rd at 15:22, Jay Hatt placed 79th overall at 15:37 and Jonathan Sturwold finished 101st at 19:05.

Bronson was also competing. The Vikings were led by Brayton Coaby in 12th at 12:20, Adam Franks in 16th at 12:44 and Jyles Miner came in 112th at 23:55.

Colon was led by Oliver Bohanon in 67th at 14:49. Bernard Reilley was 81st overall at 15:49, Max Fellars finished 86th at 16:09, Grant Bohanon finished 92nd at 17:16 and Evan Stabler came in 107th at 20:53.

Constantine’s Quade Gardner placed 34th at 13:22. Pierce Gardner came in 48th overall at 14:05. Dillon Burgess finished 97th overall at 17:35, Aydin Weinberg was 100th at 19:04, Armando Ortiz finished 104th at 20:17 and Xzavyer Sandy-Trejo came in 111th at 23:50.Mendon’s Zak Iobe finished seventh overall at 12:02.
