Smyrna Jonquil Lions Club hosts 10th annual car show this Saturday

Sep. 12—The Smyrna Jonquil Lions Club will kick off its 10th annual car show Saturday at the Adventure Outdoors parking lot off of South Cobb Drive in Smyrna.

The annual fundraiser event is hosted by the local Lions Club to show its interest in cars and the community.

Club President Bill Bailey said there will be a wide-variety of unique cars ranging from vintage to brand-new. There are also 11 award categories for people who participate in the car show.

The car show is the Smyrna club's only fundraiser each year. All proceeds from the car show are donated to organizations including the Georgia Blind Sports Association, Vision Rehabilitation Services, the Georgia Lions Camp for the Blind and the Georgia Lions Lighthouse.

"All of Lions Clubs in Cobb County work with each other and the funds we raise go to a great cause," Bailey said.

Funds received from the car show also benefit the local Lions Club vision health initiatives which include providing mass vision screenings in public schools, free eye exams and eyeglasses for those who cannot afford professional eyecare.

"The ultimate goal every year is to have a good time and recognize local cars and car owners," Bailey said.

The event features raffles, giveaways and entertainment for everyone who attends.

Car registration begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 11 a.m. Trophies will be awarded at 12:30 p.m.

Early car entry fee is $20 and day of car registration is $25.

Adventure Outdoors is located at 2500 South Cobb Drive SE in Smyrna.
