Snap count: Blowout win over Badgers allows Ohio State backups plenty of reps

Ohio State’s 52-21 victory over Wisconsin gave the Buckeyes another chance to get their backups playing time.

The Buckeyes used 27 players on offense and the same number on defense against the Badgers.

Quarterback C.J. Stroud and the OSU starting offensive linemen – Paris Johnson Jr., Donovan Jackson, Luke Wypler, Matt Jones and Dawand Jones – led the offense in snaps, all with 62, according to the website Pro Football Focus.

Wide receivers Marvin Harrison Jr. and Emeka Egbuka were next with 59, followed by fellow receiver Julian Fleming with 57.

At running back, TreVeyon Henderson had 47 snaps and Miyan Williams only 15, though Williams carried the ball on 11 of them for 101 yards and two touchdowns. Williams earned PFF’s top grade among Buckeyes offensive players in his limited time.

On defense, safety Ronnie Hickman had the most snaps with 54, followed by linebacker Tommy Eichenberg and safety Josh Proctor with 53. Proctor had been sharing time with Lathan Ransom, but Ransom did not play against the Badgers. He was not listed as unavailable on OSU’s pregame status report.
