Snapchat Cofounder Buys Palatial Palisades Pad for $6 Million

Bobby Murphy owns at least six multimillion-dollar homes

While Evan Spiegel might be the better-known Snapchat cofounder, his counterpart, Bobby Murphy, has quite a presence in the real-estate market. The billionaire owns nearly $37 million worth of property, and he recently added to his portfolio by snatching up a midcentury home in Pacific Palisades, California, for $6 million.

Described as an “architectural gem,” the 4,109-square-foot house was built in 1958 and renovated in 1991 by Frank Lloyd Wright’s apprentice Lawrence Bernstein. And while it’s not much to look at from the outside, inside is all about the views.

There are soaring ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows in nearly every room of the house, letting in an abundance of light. From the living room, great room, master bedroom, bar, kitchen, and more, you get unobstructed ocean views, and you can even see Palos Verdes Peninsula and Catalina Island in the distance.

All of the rooms in the home, including the five bedrooms and five bathrooms, are laid out on a single floor, and the common space flows with an open floor plan. A midcentury vibe can be found everywhere, with the trademark redbrick and blondish hardwood floors found throughout. The historic vibe admittedly feels a bit dated in some areas of the home: for example, the master bathroom's black tile with gold detailing.

Another downside is that the property is lacking a pool, although the beach views from the private green backyard might make up for it. Plus, the residence is not Murphy's only abode in the area. He reportedly owns homes in Venice, Santa Monica, and Pacific Palisades as well.
