Take a sneak peek at Wichita’s new Nordstrom Rack opening at Bradley Fair

So what can you expect when the new 28,000-square-foot Nordstrom Rack opens at Bradley Fair on Thursday?

For starters, more than 15,000 pairs of shoes.

The store, which sells to women, men and children, is known for both trendy and traditional shoes, apparel, accessories, beauty and home products at what it calls bargain prices of 50% to 70% off of regular retail prices.

Carl Jenkins, senior vice president of Nordstrom Rack stores, said 90% of what the discount retailer sells are brands that can be found at the original Nordstrom chain.

“It’s really the best stuff,” he said.

Jenkins said a Wichita store makes sense in part because shoppers like to do order pickups and returns in person instead of by mail.

“A lot of customers want to engage personally.”

Regular store hours will be 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily except for Sunday, which will be 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Thursday opening will start with festivities just outside the store at 8 a.m.

There will be raffles and gifts throughout the morning, including an 8:45 a.m. raffle for a $1,000 gift card.

“We encourage people to come in and to check us out,” Jenkins said.

He said this store’s success will be the indicator of whether the company should open a second store on the west side.

Jenkins said the early read is a positive one.

“We’re super excited for the interest that has already been show to us thus far.”
