Dec. 6—"Saturday Night Live" vet John Mulaney will headline St. Paul's Xcel Energy Center on April 23.

Tickets, at prices to be announced, go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday through Ticketmaster.

Mulaney, 39, grew up in Chicago and decided he wanted to go into show business after watching "I Love Lucy" at the age of 5. After moving to New York and working as an office assistant at Comedy Central, Mulaney landed an "SNL" audition in August 2008. He spent four seasons on the writing team, occasionally appearing during "Weekend Update." He also co-created the popular Stefon character with cast member Bill Hader. After leaving the show, Mulaney has returned to host four times, most recently in October 2020.

Over the past decade, Mulaney has starred in a series of stand-up comedy specials as well as his short-lived sitcom "Mulaney" and the TV shows "Kroll Show," "Documentary Now" and "Big Mouth." In 2016, he co-starred in "The Oh, Hello Show" on Broadway with fellow comic Nick Kroll. It earned rave reviews and was filmed for a Netflix special.

During the pandemic, Mulaney's personal life has earned him headlines. In September 2020, he entered rehab for alcoholism, cocaine addiction and prescription drug abuse. He left the following month and returned in December after a relapse. In May, he announced he was divorcing Annamarie Tendler, his wife of almost seven years. At the same time, he began an on-again, off-again relationship with actress Olivia Munn. In September, the pair revealed that they were expecting a child.
