- John Higgins and defending champion Mark Selby both cruised into the semi-finals of the World Championships at the Crucible in Sheffield. Higgins, 41, converted an overnight 11-5 lead into a 13-6 victory over Kyren Wilson to reach the last four for the first time since winning the last of his four world titles in 2011. He will now face Barry Hawkins, who beat Stephen Maguire 13-9. Selby strolled to a 13-3 success against Hong Kong's Marco Fu and now faces China's Ding Junhui in a repeat of last year's final. Ding coverted his 10-6 overnight lead into a 13-10 win against Ronnie O'Sullvan, but not before the Englishman had fired in a 146 break in the 20th frame, the highest of the tournament so far.
