It's a snow day in Ashland, Holmes and Wayne counties as overnight storm closes schools
Ashland City Schools, the Ashland County-West Holmes Career Center and Wooster City Schools are among the many area school districts that are closed today after an overnight late January snowstorm blanketed portions of Ohio with a mixture of snow and ice.
A winter weather advisory remains in effect through 3 p.m. today.
How much snow will we get?
According to the National Weather Service a mix of rain, snow and sleet is expected today, changing to all rain this afternoon as highs climb to the upper 30s. One to 3 inches is possible today for portions of northern Ohio with more snow expected after midnight and a possible inch of additional accumulation.
Here's the forecast for the rest of the week from the NWS:
Thursday: A 50% chance of snow. Cloudy, with a high near 32. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.
Thursday night: Snow showers likely, mainly before 1 a.m. Cloudy, with a low around 21.
Friday: A 30% chance of snow showers after 1 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 33. Winds could gust as high as 32 mph.
Friday night: A 50% chance of snow showers before 1 a.m. Cloudy and breezy, with a low around 28.
Saturday: Cloudy, with a high near 36.
Saturday night: Rain and snow showers likely. Cloudy, with a low around 30.
Sunday: A chance of rain and snow showers. Cloudy, with a high near 37.
