Snow flurries possible in Tri-Cities area Monday — if it gets cold enough
The Tri-Cities may see some snow flurries on Monday — or just some rain, according to the National Weather Service forecast.
Light to moderate snow was forecast across much of Washington state, starting on Sunday night.
In the Tri-Cities the chance of snow in the early morning through 10 a.m. is 10% to 30%, with rain more likely after 10 a.m.
The low for Monday morning was forecast at near freezing, with the temperature climbing to 42 by late afternoon.
Less than an inch of snow is expected in the Tri-Cities area, according to the weather service.
But those planning car trips in the region should be prepared for snow.
Travelers on Interstate 90 can expect snow Sunday night through Monday night. Monday daytime accumulations are forecast at 3 to 7 inches with another 1 to 3 inches that night.
Tri-Cities travelers heading east on Interstate 82 could run into a couple of inches of new snow at Meacham, Ore.
Snow also is likely for those heading north to Spokane, but less than two inches are forecast there from Sunday night through Monday.
In the Tri-Cities, the week ahead after Monday should be mostly sunny. However, a slight chance of rain and snow is forecast again for Saturday.
