Snow place like home: Bills-Patriots game on Monday Night Football is a winter wonderland

There's playoff weather and a playoff atmosphere for the Buffalo Bills' regular-season game at Highmark Stadium. Snow and extreme winds are making it look like the Bills are playing the New England Patriots inside a snow globe.

There is a lakeshore flood advisory and wind advisory in the region for the Monday Night Football game. The National Weather Service in Buffalo warms that tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

New England (8-4) is a half-game ahead of Buffalo (7-4) in the AFC East and currently holds the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoff race.

Snow showers are expected in Orchard Park during the game, with a low around 26 degrees. Wind gusts could reach 48 mph. A 54-mile-per-hour wind gust was reported in Buffalo on Monday afternoon, a statement from the NWS said.

Lake effect snow east of Lake Erie is expected until 9 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

The team's kickers told ESPN's Lisa Salters before the game that the game was in the top three worst conditions they've ever faced and they may not be comfortable attempting anything longer than an extra point.
