See the latest inch count predictions as snow expected in North Jersey for weekend

The National Weather Service is predicting snow for parts of New Jersey Friday into Saturday.

Northern New Jersey just finished encountering a large snowstorm on Tuesday, but is more snow on the horizon for Friday night?

The National Weather Service predicts a light amount of snow is set to hit some counties such as Sussex and Morris while Bergen, Essex and Passaic are projected for lighter precipitation.

According to a NWS meteorologist, the snowfall should start to accumulate towards midnight on Friday evening and then eventually pass through the area early Saturday morning.

How much snow is expected?

  • Newark: 3 inches

  • Morristown: 2-3

  • Mount Pocono: 2.7

  • Parsippany: 2.4

  • Paramus: 2

  • West Milford: 2

  • Central Park: 2

  • Kennedy Airport: 2

  • Wantage: 1-2

  • Sussex: 1.7

  • Newton: 1

When will the snow start?

Snow likely won't start until after midnight in the northeast part of the start but could be a little earlier more northwest, but still after rush hour per the National Weather Service.

Sussex County snow forecast

Some towns in Sussex county are projected to get an inch of snow or a bit more, with the high end being up to four inches or potentially no snow at all on the low end. Franklin, Newton and Hopatcong have an expected snowfall amount of one inch.

Morris County snow forecast

Like Sussex, Morris County is expected to see a a couple inches of snow. Morristown, Dover and Madison have a predicted snowfall total of one inch with a high end of four inches with the possibility of no snow fall reaching the area. Parsippany is predicted for 2.4 inches.

Bergen and Essex counties snow prediction

The snow forecast increased a bit for more northeast Jersey with 3 inches in Newark and 2 in Paramus expected, per the National Weather Service.

West Milford is also expecting 2 inches with a high-end forecast of 4 inches, low end of less than an inch.

Friday's high temperature will top 40 degrees before dipping below freezing into the evening hours.
