Snow is in Sunday's forecast around Erie, NW Pa. How much should you expect where you live?

The weather is doing its part to usher in the winter holidays.

The National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a lake-effect snow warning for southern Erie County and a winter weather advisory for northern Erie County and elsewhere around the region from early afternoon Sunday until 7 a.m. Monday.

The heaviest snow is expected in southern and eastern Erie County in the snow-belt swath that includes Edinboro, Union City and Corry. The weather service calls for 6 inches to 9 inches of snow, with the greatest snowfall rates — possibly more than an inch per hour — expected between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m.

In northern Erie County, the forecast is for 3 inches to 5 inches of snow, with the greatest rate of snowfall again between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Crawford County snow forecast

In Crawford County, including Meadville, Cambridge Springs and Titusville, the winter weather advisory calls for 3 inches to 5 inches of snow, with the greatest rate of snowfall between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. Sunday.

Warren County snow forecast

The weather service in State College calls for 2 inches to 4 inches across the county, with 6 inches from persistent and heavier snow bands in some areas, particularly in the western and northern county. The winter weather advisory is in place from 1 p.m. Sunday until 7 a.m. Monday.

Chautauqua County snow forecast

The weather service in Buffalo has issued a winter weather advisory from 1 p.m. Sunday until 7 a.m. Monday. Lake-effect snow could accumulate 5 inches to 8 inches in the most persistent bands.
