Snowfall Shrouds Washington Monument

A major winter storm moving up the US Northeast began blanketing the Washington DC metropolitan area on Sunday, January 31, and was expected to bring between four and six inches of snow, the National Weather Service said.

This footage from the National Mall shows heavy snowfall obscuring the Washington Monument, as well as the Lincoln Memorial.

In anticipation of the storm, Mayor Muriel Bowser on Saturday declared a Snow Emergency in effect from 9 am Sunday to 6 am Tuesday. Credit: @RiverGirl707 via Storyful
