Snowpiercer is one of the best dystopian science fiction movies out there, and we're very excited to see how the themes and gritty, horrible world is explored through the upcoming TNT TV series.

Luckily, those of us outside the US and China won't have to wait that long, as Netflix has revealed the release date, and it is not far off at all.

The series will begin on May 25, which is when the first two episodes will drop, and with one more episode released every week starting from June 1.

Alita: Battle Angel star Jennifer Connelly and Hamilton's Daveed Diggs lead the show, as two people among the remnants of humanity who live on a train that never stops moving around a frozen planet Earth.

As you can see from the brand new trailer, the class divide is a huge theme in Snowpiercer. Connelly plays a first class passenger who is strangely fascinated by the lower class people, as opposed to being appalled by them. Diggs plays a drug-addicted prisoner who will eventually become involved in a revolution.

Orphan Black's Graeme Manson is serving as showrunner, and Doctor Strange's Scott Derrickson is one of the executive producers, while the rest of the cast will be full of faces familiar to those of you who've seen Narcos, Peaky Blinders, The Americans, Hedwig and the Angry Inch and others.

Meanwhile, Sean Bean has been cast in the already commissioned season 2.

The film adaptation, which is in a separate continuity, stars Chris Evans, John Hurt and Tilda Swinton and is on Netflix now. Go. Watch. It.
