Snowstorm: Winter weather returns as counties receive up to 14 inches of snow
Winter returned Sunday night and Monday morning as Wayne and Holmes counties received between 4 and 14 inches of snowfall, according to the National Weather Service.
Traffic was backed up along Route 585 between Smithville and Wooster on Monday morning as cars were stuck in inches of deep snow on the sides of the road, according to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.
Winter weather: Snow emergency declared, parking ban in effect for many Wooster streets starting at 8 p.m.
Vehicles were reported in ditches throughout Wayne, Holmes and Ashland counties, but no serious injuries or accidents were reported, according to the sheriff's offices.
Snow emergency levels called for Ashland, Holmes and Wayne counties
To keep area residents home, Wayne County Sheriff Travis Hutchinson issued a Level 2 snow advisory Monday morning, which warns only those who feel it is necessary to drive should be out. As the day rolled into the afternoon, the snow advisory became a Level 1, which indicates roads are hazardous and icy with blowing and drifting snow.
Holmes County Sheriff Timothy Zimmerly issued a Level 1 snow emergency.

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for Wayne and Holmes counties until 1 p.m. Monday with snow accumulations expected between 1 and 4 inches.
A Level 2 snow emergency was issued for Ashland County, which received between 3 and 7 inches with additional snow accumulations up to 2 inches Monday, according to the Ashland County Sheriff's Office.
Schools were closed for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday and were not impacted by the snowfall Monday.
Plowing through counties and cities
All 25 of the Wayne County Engineer's Office's plow trucks were on the roads Sunday night into Monday morning, the office announced. Holmes County plow trucks followed suit to clear roads of the 4-6 inches of snowfall.
The cities of Wooster, Rittman and Orrville kept plow trucks on the streets throughout Sunday night and Monday morning, according to each city.
Due to the inclement weather, Kimble Company announced residential trash pick-up will be delayed by one day this week in Wayne County service areas, according to a Facebook post by the company.
