Bartlesville High's Jaci Decker makes a pass during girls soccer play in the 2022 season.

Due to a variety of reasons, Bartlesville High varsity soccer teams are playing more of a separate schedule.

On Tuesday, the Lady Bruins outlasted Jenks in a penalty kick shootout (7-6).

The score ended in a 0-0 tie at the end of regulation, with Lily Weimer playing in goal for Bartlesville.

Kaelynn "K.K." Duncan booted the seventh/winning goal for Bartlesville. Goalie Weimer made the save on the next shot to seal the win.

"We were very solid defensively," said first-year Bartlesville head coach Cedric Muteshi. "We knew that team was really good. They had one team on the national team. We knew we had to be very physical."

The main objects were to match Jenks' intensity, "play faster and try to win the game," Muteshi said. "Defensively, everybody had to play well."

The Lady Bruins obviously reached that level.

Anyway one looks at it, Tuesday's achievement was historic.

Since 2018, Jenks had won three against Bartlesville, by a combined score of 21-0.

Muteshi said some suggested to him this might have been Bartlesville's first-ever win against Jenks. But, that hasn't been confirmed.

Bartlesville improved to 4-2 this season._
