Brazilian soccer legend Pelé will celebrate his 80th birthday Friday in isolation at home.

Though Pelé's birthday might as well be a national holiday in Brazil, the man himself said he spends most of them alone, regardless of whether there’s a pandemic at the time.

It’s particularly smart for his 80th, given that the greatest soccer player of all time suffers from various health ailments that prevent him from leaving home without help.

The only man to win three World Cups, Pelé has spent most of the COVID-19 pandemic at his coastal mansion in Guarujá, about 55 miles southeast of downtown Sao Paulo.

Pelé, whose legal name is Edson Arantes do Nascimento, did have one surprise in store this year: He released a song with Grammy-winning Mexican guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela called "Acredita no Véio (Listen to the Old Man).
