Soccer All-Ohio

New Philadelphia junior standout Lauryn Contini and Tuscarawas Valley senior Jesse Brothers highlight the area players selected to the Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association All-Ohio teams.

Contini was named to the girls Division II first team after scoring a state-leading 55 goals, along with eight assists. this season. She was also named first team All-Ohio Cardinal Conference and Eastern District player of the year. She has been nominated for All-American status by the United Soccer Coaches Association.

"Being a good teammate is my top priority," said Contini, who led the Quakers to a 15-4-2 record and a berth in the regional championship. "Getting the most goals is great, but I owe it all to the players around me."

Contini, who also plays for the Cleveland Force Soccer Club, was joined by teammate Kellyn Fausel, also a junior, and Dover senior Addie Martin, who were selected for the second team.

Fausel had nine goals and 25 assists this season.

Martin had 106 saves for the Crimson Tornadoes, who, like New Philadelphia, won a district championship.

In Division III, Kate Kaufman of Hiland and Morgan VanMeter of Sandy Valley, both seniors, were selected to the girls second team.

Kaufman became the career goals leader at Hiland.

Brothers, a midfielder/defender, was selected to the first team in boys Division III.

Reese Mullet, a Hiland senior, was named to the boys second team in Division III.

Boys players of the year were Nolan Spicer of Cleveland St. Ignatius in Division I, Gus Peacock of Cincinnati Wyoming in Division II and Eli Eyrich of Yellow Springs in Division III.

The girls players of the year were Olivia Sipsock of Medina (Division I), Emma Stransky of Copley (Division II) and CJ Debra of Cincinnati Country Day.
