Social media alerts draws Luna County Sheriff's Office attention

LUNA COUNTY, N.M. – Recently, social media and other sources have mentioned reports of home invasions and robberies in our community. The Luna County Sheriff’s Office has responded to calls of suspicious persons banging on doors in the early morning hours.

The Luna County Sheriff’s Office reports that at no time have these incidents turned into forced entries, robberies, theft or killings.

Luna County Sheriff Kelly Gannaway assures that law enforcement remains vigilant and proactive to reduce crime. Sheriff Gannaway reports law enforcement will continue working to keep Luna County a safe place to live.

Recent reports and statistics show that burglaries and larcenies have increased in all areas of Luna County.

Sheriff Gannaway encourages Luna County residents to report suspicious criminal activity to law enforcement. Luna County residents are also encouraged to secure doors and windows. Residents are advised to be especially aware of patterns involving suspicious persons and or vehicles in or around their neighborhoods.
