SEANA SMITH: Well, 74-year-old TikTok sensation Barbara Costello, known on TikTok and Instagram as @BrunchWithBabs and everyone's favorite grandma, is taking the internet by storm from cooking videos to cleaning hacks. She does it all. One of her most popular TikToks has 28 million views, showing us just how the best way to carve a pumpkin. Let's watch.

- Hi, everybody. It's Babs. Did your mom ever tell you the dos and don'ts of pumpkin carving? Don't stand and carve your pumpkin. Sit, just put them on your lap.

Now, time to cut the bottom of your pumpkin, not the top. Don't do this. Use your hand-mixer instead. Get all those strings loosened up. Your mixer did the hard work of loosening all those strings.

SEANA SMITH: Barbara Costello, @BrunchWithBabs, joining us now. Babs-- can I call you that? Is that OK?

BARBARA COSTELLO: 100%. Of course. Yes.

SEANA SMITH: [CHUCKLES] Babs, it's great to have you. Over three million followers. You do it all from carving pumpkins, telling us how the best ways to clean our cars. One of your followers even saying that you helped her save her home from a house fire. What's the common thread in terms of how popular you have become in such a short amount of time on social media?

BARBARA COSTELLO: Well, you know what? It's a surprise to me. I'm not sure if you knew this, but I was not on social media when I made my first TikTok almost three years ago. So all of this has been a surprise. But I have to say, I think it's the mother-grandmotherly trust element that people have-- can relate to. You know, like you trust your mom, you trust your grandmother. So they're gonna give you good advice. So I think that might be it.

DAVE BRIGGS: We do, indeed, trust you. It's nice to see you again, Babs. So whether you're a--

BARBARA COSTELLO: Hey, Dave. Good to see you.

DAVE BRIGGS: [CHUCKLES] Nice to see you. Whether you're a 17-year-old girl or asking for a friend, a 46-year-old man, what do you think is the best advice for someone who wants to become a TikTok content creator?

BARBARA COSTELLO: Dave, I would tell them to first of all be themselves, be authentic, and share something that you're passionate about, that you know a lot about and you're really into. And you might be surprised. You might think, oh, everybody knows that. But maybe not.

And so what you would be doing is sharing the knowledge that you already have, that you are very passionate about, and you're yourself. And people really respond to authenticity, I think.

SEANA SMITH: Well, Babs, you certainly have a lot of advice. I know one of the projects that you're working on right now is selling your car. So if you could just give us some tips. What do people need to know if and when they also consider doing this?

BARBARA COSTELLO: Yes. Well, I would say, if you're in the market for a new car, you're gonna sell your used car, number one, make sure that you have kept all of your service records, any maintenance so it proves that you have been a responsible car owner. And, of course, cleanliness sells, right? I mean, if you're selling your home, you're gonna have that home spotless. And if you're selling your car, you're gonna do the same thing.

And, of course, years ago, I remember days before all the internet and phones and all this business, when somebody was gonna sell their car, they actually consulted the Kelley Blue Book, which was a blue book with all of the car makes and models. And it gave you kind of a figure of what that car is worth. Today, you can do that online with Kelley Blue Book Instant Cash Offer right online. So times have changed, haven't they?

DAVE BRIGGS: Well, yeah, and the prices of cars have really changed. Just in the last couple of years, it's been all over the map, so that's really interesting. Can you sell a car on TikTok?

BARBARA COSTELLO: Yes, you can. This is like-- well, TikTok-- yeah, I know you can on the internet. And Kelley Blue Book Instant Cash Offer has an app but also just an online tool. So you probably could, I'm sure.

You can do-- TikTok-- my daughter had a vision when I first started on this. TikTok, to me, was like middle-schoolers dancing, which applied to my granddaughters. And she said, mom, things are gonna change, it's going to be a learning tool.

So actually I made a TikTok about getting your car ready to sell. And I repurposed some typical household things that you have, like for cleaning, that you could use to clean your car. Actually, one was toothpaste. So you use toothpaste to clean-- toothpaste to clean your teeth. You can also use that to clean your headlights. All you need is a soft cloth-- oh, there I am-- and a quarter-sized dollop of toothpaste. And you just circular motion over your headlights and it removes mild oxidation, which is gonna give you a brighter light.

Also-- oh, there I'm using a coffee filter with just a few drops of olive oil. It attracts dust like a magnet. And it will prevent dust from accumulating so quickly. Let's see, OK, if you have car odors, you're carting around your kids, the toddlers around the car, right?

You want to sell your car, you don't want to have any nasty odors. Just take a cup full of white vinegar and leave that in the car overnight in the cup holder. And I personally like the smell of white vinegar but if you don't, just take the a cotton ball with a few drops of essential oil. And you'll have whatever scent that you enjoy your car.

So yeah, there's a lot of things that you can do. Actually, for those really hard to reach crevices, you could take-- you can make a car gummy. And what you do is you take Elmer's glue, baking soda, and contact lens solution, believe it or not, and pour that directly into your cup holder. And mix it and then let it sit for five minutes. It becomes like a putty. And you use that to, you know, your vents that you can never get clean on the dashboard, or the crevices on the door, cleans everything.

DAVE BRIGGS: I use Lemon Pledge because I like the smell of lemon, even though I shouldn't use it on everything. I'm like the Windex guy in "Big, Fat, Greek Wedding." Babs, one quick question before you go. If there's one dream celebrity collaboration out there for you, who is it and why?

BARBARA COSTELLO: Oh, wow. [LAUGHS] You, Dave.

DAVE BRIGGS: Right!

[LAUGHTER]

JARED BLIKRE: Good answer.

SEANA SMITH: Nailed it, Babs.

DAVE BRIGGS: I'm not a celebrity. I thought you were gonna say George Clooney or maybe Ryan Reynolds. Neither?

BARBARA COSTELLO: I'll take Dave over George Clooney. [LAUGHS]

DAVE BRIGGS: I love you, Babs. Barbara Costello, check her out on TikTok, @BrunchWithBabs. You're the best.
