Party for one? [Photo: Rex/Shuttershock]

As an adult you get the ‘no-one’s going to come’ fear every time you throw a little get together. But imagine how it feels when you’re a four-year-old and literally all your friends blow out your birthday bash. *sobs*

Mum, Rachelle Briannan couldn’t believe it when everyone she’d invited to her son, Taenon’s birthday party was a no-show.

Despite having sent invitations to twelve guests, they all either cancelled, failed to show up or didn’t bother RSVPing to the invitation in the first place.

Anyone else got a lump in their throat right now?

But wipe those tears away because the day was saved by a bunch of random strangers on t’internet.

Social media came up trumps and around 30 children turned up to celebrate Taenon’s birthday [Photo: Facebook/Midnight mums]

Taking to Midnight Mums, her mothers group on Facebook, Rachelle wrote about her upset for her son and the heartfelt message roused the group’s members into action.

“So I’m sitting in my room quietly crying. 12 kids were invited to my son’s party today, and an hour before every one of them cancels or just doesn’t reply to my messages,” she wrote.

“My son just turned 4 and this is the first time he’s really understood the whole party with friends thing. My heart is literally broken for him. I’m so hurt and angry. What the hell can I do to make this up to him? Seriously. I made him this huge superhero cake and there’s going to be no one to even sing happy birthday to him.”

The plea, led to around 30 kids, some of which Taenon had never met before, and their parents turning up to the branch of McDonald’s in Eltham where Taenon’s party was being held.

Even the emergency services popped along to wish the four-year-old a happy birthday. Which Taenon, and everyone, thought was super cool.

A post on the group’s Facebook wall read afterwards: “The Midnight Mums community rallied together online with hundreds of birthday wishes for Taenon flooding our newsfeeds and touching the hearts of our members with this feel good story right across Australia and beyond.“

And Rachelle was amazingly grateful for the kind strangers who helped make her son’s birthday a day to remember.

“We are just so overwhelmed with love and support it’s incredible. People took time and money from their own lives and invested it into me and my son — Taenon. I was also so happy to see people forming friendships at his party, not just kids but the parents. Everyone there just got along so well.”

Now that’s what we call a happy ending. See, the Internet can be good sometimes.
