The Amarillo Sod Poodles dropped a low-scoring contest 4-1 in Corpus Christi on Wednesday night when they totaled just two hits.

Amarillo starting pitcher Deyni Olivero (0-5) was handed his fifth loss of the season after allowing three runs on three hits with three walks and six strikeouts across 5 2/3 innings.

The Soddies lone run of the game when first baseman Andy Yerzy hit a line drive double to right field that scored catcher Nick Dalesandro.

Corpus Christi had two solo home runs in the game from centerfielder Justin Dirden (2-4, 2 R, 2 RBI) and second baseman Shay Whitcomb (1-3, 1 R, 1 RBI).

Hooks’ starter Misael Tamarez picked up his second win of the season after allowing one run on two hits with two walks and eight strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings of action.

The two teams will meet again on Thursday night (7:05 p.m.) for the third game of their six-game series.
