Sod Poodles open series against Missions with a walk off win

Amarillo Sod Poodles infielder Drew Stankiewicz (3) against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals on Sunday, July 3, 2022, at HODGETOWN in Amarillo, Texas.

After falling behind by three runs early, the Amarillo Sod Poodles did what they've done so well the past few weeks: Win on the last at bat.

Juan Centeno hit a walk off RBI single to score Roby Enriquez and provided Amarillo a 6-5 victory over the San Antonio Missions on Tuesday night at HODGETOWN Stadium.

With the victory, the Sod Poodles improved to 41-41 on the season.

After San Antonio went up 3-0 after the top of the second, Amarillo got on the board in the bottom half. Tim Tawa's two-run home run scored himself and Eduardo Diaz before Centeno hit a solo homer to tie the game up. Tristin English belted a solo homer of his own the next inning to put Amarillo up 4-3.

Centeno made it a 5-3 game in the fourth when his RBI single scored Enriquez, but the Missions tied it up on a two-run homer in the fifth. Neither team scored again until Centeno sent everyone home in the bottom of the ninth.
