AMARILLO SOD POODLES 6 ARKANSAS TRAVELERS 5

What this game means: After a lopsided defeat the day prior to open the final 2022 series at HODGETOWN Stadium, Amarillo bounced back in a big way Wednesday. Tied after nine innings, The Soddies walked off the Travelers to win 6-5 and even the series 1-1. Amarillo is now 61-66 overall and 29-29 in the second half of the season. They are four games back from Frisco in the South Division.

Game highlights: Early on it looked like it would be a repeat of the night before as Arkansas jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. That lead grew to 5-0 heading into the bottom of the third before Amarillo came alive. That was when Blaze Alexander knocked a two-run RBI single to score Jorge Barrosa and Jordan Lawlar to pull Amarillo within three. It was the long ball for the Soddies from there as Juan Centeno hit a solo home run in the fourth, Alexander blasted one in the sixth and Roby Enriquez added a third in the seventh to tie the game at 6-6. The game remained tied through nine and went to extras. In the bottom of the tenth, Centeno decided he'd seen enough as he hit the walk off RBI single to score Deyvison De Los Dantos and end the game.

Stars of the game: It has to be Centeno, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI and one run. Alexander was right there with him as he went 2-for-5 with three RBI and one run while Enriquez was 2-for-5 with a home run. Tim Tawa went 2-for-5 as did Lawlar, who added a run. De Los Santos, one of the top prospects in the Arizona Diamondbacks' system, got his first run in Double-A while another top prospect, A.J. Vukovich, picked up his first Double-A hit. Relief pitchers Kenny Hernandez (2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K), Mack Lemieux (2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 K) and Kyle Backhus (2 IP, 1 BB, 2 K) were all outstanding as well.
