Soddies win by largest margin of the year against Corpus Christi

After scoring just two runs Wednesday night, the Amarillo Sod Poodles bounced back in a big way on Thursday.

The Sod Poodles defeated the Corpus Christi Hooks 15-2 at HODGETOWN. The 13-run margin is their largest victory of the season and comes after Amarillo put up just two runs the night before. The Soddies are now 46-47 on the season.

The offense was hot from the start as Dominic Canzone scored on an error and Juan Centeno's RBI single scored Tristin English in the bottom of the first. That made it 2-0 right off the bat.

After a scoreless second, Amarillo cranked up the heat in the third. Centeno scored Leandro Cedeno on a RBI single before Ti'Quan Forbes' RBI double scored Centeno, Roby Enriquez and Nick Dalesandro.

In the fourth, Cedeno hit his 21st homer of the season, scoring himself and Jorge Barrosa to make it 8-0. Forbes slammed a solo homer in the fifth before Canzone hit a RBI double to score Drew Stankiewicz. In the sixth, Forbes' RBI double scored English and Centeno to make it 12-0.

Corpus Christi put a run on the board in the top of the seventh, but Canzone hit a home run to score Barrosa and himself in the bottom of the inning. In the same inning, Dalesandro capped the scoring with a RBI double that scored English. Corpus Christi put another run up in the ninth, but they couldn't catch Amarillo as the Sod Poodles got the win.
