Softball: Monroe-Woodbury's Roberts earn top honors, 2022 Section 1, 9 all-state honorees
The New York State Sportswriters and Coaches' Organization for Girls Sports finalized and released their annual all-state softball teams this week.
Both Section 1 and Section 9 had 25 all-state selections each.
The NYSSCOGS also announced its class-by-class player and coach of the year. In Class AA, Monroe-Woodbury's Brianna Roberts was named state player of the year, and her mother, Penny Roberts, was named state coach of the year.
Roberts went 23-0 in the circle this past season, with a 0.55 ERA. The senior pitcher struck out 280 batters and walked just 21. Offensively, the Binghamton commit batted .478 at the plate with nine doubles, a triple and 14 RBI.

Monroe-Woodbury: Crusaders cap perfect season with state Class AA titel
The Crusaders went undefeated and captured the Class AA state title. They have an active 46-game winning streak.
