Softball roundup: Willmar Cardinals go 0-3 at tournament

May 14—MOUND — The Willmar softball team finished 0-3 at the Mound-Westonka tournament on Saturday.

The Cardinals lost games to Hutchinson 23-13, Minneapolis DeLaSalle 13-0 and Southwest Christian 9-5.

Willmar had 11 hits against Hutchinson, with Hannah Magnuson, Madi Norsten and Zoe Schroeder each collecting two hits. Magnuson scored three times, Norsten hit for a triple, a double and four runs, and Schroeder had three runs and three RBIs.

The Islanders held Willmar to one hit by Cadence Parker in the second game of the day.

Against the Stars, Maguson was 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored. Schroeder and Norsten were both 1-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

The Cardinals hit the road Thursday for a Central Lakes Conference doubleheader at Fergus Falls. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.

Litchfield finished 1-2 at the Roseville tournament, picking up a win against St. Paul Como Park and taking losses against Faribault and Hill-Murray.

The Dragons got 11 hits against Como Park, led by a 4-for-4 outing by Karlee Prahl. She had a triple, a double, three RBIs and a run scored. Claire Holmgren got the complete-game victory, striking out four and giving up three hits and seven walks.

Olivia Holmgren and Olivia Olson were the top hitters for Litchfield against Faribault. Holmgren was 2-for-3 with a pair of runs. Olson finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Hill-Murray held Litchfield to one hit by Grace Braaten.

The Dragons are back on the road at 4:30 p.m. Monday against Watertown-Mayer.

Both teams combined for 23 hits in Game 1. The Jaguars' top hitter was Faith Radermacher, going 3-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Booklyn Fischer hit a home run for BBE, finishing 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs.

Anna Jaeger, McKenna Lieser and Bree Radermacher both had two hits for BBE in Game 2.
