Softball teams pick up Sagamore wins

May 2—Lebanon and Western Boone picked up a pair of straight-forward wins on Tuesday night.

Lebanon traveled to North Montgomery and topped the Chargers 18-3.

The Tigers put the game away early, scoring eight in the first and seven in the second. They scored three more in the third.

North Montgomery tacked on their runs in the fourth and fifth.

MacKenzie Carey was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBIs. She also had a home run.

Abby Johnson was 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs and a home run.

Krryn Miller also hit a home run, going 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored.

Hannah Wilborn went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs. Lillie Hollingsworth went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Miller pitched all five innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on four hits. She struck out eight.

Western Boone also faced a Montgomery County team and bested Crawfordsville 10-0 in five innings.

It took a little while for the Western Boone bats to get going, only scoring once in the first two innings.

But in the third, they started to pull away. Emily Conyer led off the inning with a triple and scored on a Gabby Lewis single.

The Stars loaded the bases, and added another run when Makenzie Amich was hit by a pitch. A wild pitch and a 2-run single by Emma Shirley made it 6-0 after three.

WeBo added a run on an error in the fourth. The Stars ended the game in the fifth, scoring on a passed ball and a 2-run single from Mickayla Naanos.

Conyer was 3-for-4 with three runs socred. Shirley, Lewis and Morganne Grant all had two hits.

Lewis allowed just two hits in the game and struck out nine.

Game two in both series will take place on Wednesday.
