Is Sol Blume still happening? Concertgoers uneasy about Sacramento festival’s lack of updates

Update: Sol Blume likely postponed due to venue weather conditions

Original story:

Ticket holders say they are beginning to feel antsy about the upcoming Sol Blume festival, one of the largest R&B concerts in Northern California.

Artist lineups and concert dates for Sol Blume were announced by the festival’s organizers, ENT Legends, in February. ENT announced that it added an extra day for the first time this year, making it a three-day event from May 3 to 5.

But with just two weeks before the big event at Discovery Park, anticipated concertgoers are growing weary about whether the event is still happening.

Many fans took their concerns to the Sol Blume social media pages to voice their concerns. The festival has not added a post on either Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) since Feb. 29.

People who have purchased tickets have flooded social media with comments and posts wondering what’s going on.

One Instagram account finessestef commented: “Yall had the dopest lineup & leaving us in the dark with no update literally 2 weeks before the fest is supposed to take place?! WHYYYYYYY”

“The organizers are working diligently, around the clock to provide more updates to fans,” a spokesperson for ENT Legends said Thursday. “Fans can expect an update soon via social media and emails.”

‘There’s A LOT of talk’ but no updates

Another user, kaamiikko, begged for some form of communication from organizers before she decides whether to attend.

“Pleeasseee let me know if the festival is going to (be) postponed before I purchase my tickets. There’s A LOT of talk going on on TikTok and Twitter.”

Another Instagram user, _mina.irl, commented under Sol Blume’s last post seven weeks ago criticizing the silence.

“Did you guys not learn your lesson from last year??? If plans are changing — keep us updated. Don’t leave us in the dark until the last minute. I’m a Sac local, but there are people who are flying out and need to book their accommodations. If you want Sol Blume to continue, don’t treat your patrons like afterthoughts.”

Festival has been postponed, canceled before

The event was postponed three and a half months last year following numerous severe rainstorms that soaked Sacramento, compromising Discovery Park.

Expected headliners for Sol Blume this year are Snoh Aalegra on Friday, May 3 show, Kaytraminé, — the duo of Kaytranada and Aminé — on Saturday, May 4 and SZA on Sunday, May 5.

The event started in 2018, when it was first held at Cesar Chavez Plaza downtown. The festival wasn’t held in 2020 or 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic but returned and grew in popularity.

This year, however, music fans have expressed uncertainty about the concert.

TikTok user tanaecious_, who said she purchased tickets, said in a TikTok Reel that she’s never experienced this at a festival and doesn’t know what to do.

She, too, is worried about the lack of updates. She also wonders when her wristband for entry to the festival grounds will be shipped.

“When I saw (the lineup) I immediately knew I wanted to go. ... With the way things are playing out, I am having regrets about buying my pass to Sol Blume,” she said in the post.
