Soldier in Iraq reports burglary at Illinois home thanks to doorbell camera, cops say

A soldier helped foil a burglary attempt at his Illinois home — all the way from Iraq, police say.

The soldier saw two men walking toward his Park Ridge home early Friday thanks to his doorbell camera which he accessed on his smartphone, WMAQ reported.

After watching the men walk away from his garage with power tools, the soldier called police, according to the outlet.

Officials say they found the two men walking on a nearby road with items from the garage along with a number of other items believed to be connected to car burglaries in the area, WLS reported.

Andres Gutierrez, 23, and Brandon Shaw, 24, were both arrested and charged with three counts of burglary, the Park Ridge Herald-Advocate reported. They were scheduled to appear in court on Saturday.
