Solo vehicle crash in Woodland results in multiple fatalities, highway patrol says

Two passengers died and a third sustained major injuries after a solo-vehicle crash in Woodland early Thursday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Around 2:30 a.m., officers responded to the area of County Road 32A between Mace Boulevard and County Road 105, according to CHP. They determined the incident to be a fatal crash involving one vehicle.

Authorities said it is believed a Ford was traveling westbound on Interstate 80 approaching Mace Boulevard at a high rate of speed when it was driven from the roadway, traveling in a northwesterly direction.

The driver and the front passenger died from the injuries they received in the crash, according to highway patrol, and a third passenger sustained major injuries.

The reason the vehicle drove off of the roadway is unknown, as well as whether alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash, CHP said.
