Soloveiko Songbird: First Ukrainian installation for Eurovision 2023 unveiled in Liverpool
One element that has already begun is the installation of 12 large-scaled art installations. The first to go up is ‘Soloveiko Songbird’, named for nightingale, a national symbol of Ukraine, and for the name of the hit single Eurovision tune by Ukraine’s Go_A.

All 12 illuminated birds represent different regions of Ukraine. Each will have its own appearance and sound and will reside in various locations throughout the city.
The first was recently installed at the Royal Albert Docks.
Ukrainian director Svitlana Reynish, sound producer Anton Dehtyaryov, and Kyiv animation design studio BlckBox helped design the project.
Also at the Royal Albert Docks, artist Luke Jerram’s Floating Earth installation has been unveiled.
Many art projects related to Ukraine are expected in Liverpool as part of the Eurovision festivities.

The ‘Protect the Beats’ solidarity project will see the General Nelson statue covered with 2,500 sandbags to remind people how Ukrainians protect their important monuments from bombings and missile attacks.
During the filming of the Eurovision postcards in Liverpool, the famous Beatles statue was dressed in “vyshyvankas”, the traditional Ukrainian embroidered shirts.
The Eurovision Song Contest 2023, with 37 participating countries, will be held in Liverpool on behalf of Ukraine on May 9 and 11 (first and second semifinals) and May 13 (grand final).
Ukraine’s Tvorchi will sing ‘Heart of Steel’ in the grand final, having automatically qualified thanks to Kalush Orchestra’s victory for ‘Stefania’ at Eurovision 2022.
