Saturday marks five years since the shooting in which 49 people died.
MARYBEL RODRIGUEZ: A somber remembrance as many gathered to pay tribute to the 49 victims in the Pulse Nightclub massacre. Gunman Omar Mateen opened fire at the Orlando gay nightclub five years ago tomorrow. The three-hour-long shooting spree is one of the worst mass shootings in US history.
Mateen claimed allegiance to a leader of the Islamic State militant group before he was killed in an exchange of gunfire with authorities. He was armed with an assault weapon and handgun he had legally purchased. He had been investigated twice by the FBI for possible connections with militant Islamic groups.
