‘Somebody shot the car!’ Third arrest made in Mount Holly shooting that killed 2 teens

MOUNT HOLLY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – A third suspect has been arrested in connection to a double shooting that took the lives of two 19-year-old young men, Mount Holly Police said.

Marquan Ladrien Marshall, 20, of Gastonia, was taken into custody on Thursday, Feb. 1, in Greensboro and charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

Both Jaylan Marray Jackson, 19, and Jayden Dae’shun Munson, 19, of Concord, were shot and killed inside a vehicle outside of a home in downtown Mount Holly on Dec. 14, 2023.

In mid-December, 911 calls were released by Mount Holly Police. “Somebody shot the car!” a 911 caller said, one of several 911 calls that came in around the same time that night.

“There are people inside of it. Go in the house now. Go inside!” the panicked woman could be heard telling her family members. “I seen somebody shoot the car, ma’am. It’s a black car.”

The first arrest made in this case came on Dec. 29, 2023. Authorities took a 17-year-old juvenile into custody in Union, New York. The second arrest was made on Jan. 12, 2024. Zabreon Isaiah Wallace, 18, was taken into custody in Fairmount, North Carolina. He has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Several agencies were involved in this homicide case including Mount Holly Police, U.S. Marshals Service, NC Department of Public Safety, Gaston County DA’s Office, and Gaston County Police.
