Ever run across something that's exceedingly strange when shopping for second-hand car parts? We just did. It's a genuine rear wing for an E36-generation BMW M3 Lightweight—the super rare and valuable one sold exclusively in the U.S.—listed for sale on eBay. The strange part isn't the wing itself, it's the price—$10,000. That is...a lot of money.

It's clear from the advertisement the seller is marketing this wing to one specific person: whoever buys the wingless M3 Lightweight from the Paul Walker collection being sold by Barrett-Jackson in January 2020. They even mention it at the top of the listing. It's worth mentioning the M3 in question—the only one out of his five without a wing—was reportedly specced from the factory without one. So it was probably never really missing in the first place.

Personally, if I'm spending $10,000 on an E36 M3 wing, the deal should include the rest of the car. Obviously, you can't get an M3 Lightweight for ten grand, but normal M3s can be found for that price all day. Here's a clean one with a bunch of upgrades for sale on eBay right now for just $8500.

That being said, rare car parts are a huge market, and finding another unused, genuine M3 Lightweight wing with all of the right accessories is likely next to impossible. So to the right person, this wing could be worth five figures.

But not to me.
