Somerset County races

State Reps. Carl Walker Metzgar, Matthew Dowling and Jim Rigby ran unopposed in the Republican primary. They may, however, face Democratic challengers based on write-in results. These have not yet been certified.

Who did Somerset County voters want for governor, U.S. Senate?

Most locals opted for the same candidates who were popular across Pennsylvania.

On the Republican side, this meant backing state Sen. Doug Mastriano for governor, state Rep. Carrie Lewis DelRosso for lieutenant governor and — by a narrow margin over Dr. Mehmet Oz — Dave McCormick for U.S. Senate.

On the Democratic side, this meant supporting uncontested Josh Shapiro for governor, state Rep. Austin Davis for lieutenant governor and Lt. Gov. John Fetterman for U.S. Senate.

What time do polls open in Pennsylvania?

In-person polls are open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Those who are in line by 8 p.m. are entitled to vote.

If you received a mail-in ballot but choose to vote in person, bring your ballot and envelope to the polls, where you can vote. If you applied for a mail-in ballot but didn’t receive one, you can still vote in person at the polls by provisional ballot.
