Somerset County high school basketball tip-off weekend Dec. 2-3

Boys basketball

Mountain Cat Tournament

Berlin Brothersvalley 74, Latrobe 62: In Richland Township, Pace Prosser dropped a game-high 29 points to go along with 11 rebounds as the Mountaineers claimed the Mountain Cat Tournament championship.

Ryan Blubaugh netted 24 points while Craig Jarvis added 15 for Berlin.

Pine Grill Roundball Classic

Everett 67, Shanksville-Stonycreek 50: In Somerset, the Vikings fell to 0-2 on the season with a setback to the Warriors in the consolation game.

Somerset 74, North Star 64: In Somerset, Eli Mumau poured in a team-high 27 points to go along with 11 rebounds to guide the Golden Eagles past the Cougars in the championship game.

Caleb Platt tallied 23 points and 11 rebounds while Aiden VanLenten contributed 15 points and 13 rebounds for Somerset.

Brady Weimer scored a game-high 28 points, including seven 3-pointers. Andy Retassie provided 15 points while Ethan Smith added 10 for North Star.

River Valley Tournament

Windber 49, River Valley 44: In Blairsville, Evan Brady paced tallied a team-high 13 points as the Ramblers topped the host Panthers to claim the River Valley Tournament championship.

Grady Klosky scored 10 points for Windber. Rex Rininger added nine points while Tanner Barkley and John Shuster each had eight points.

Mapletown Tip-off Tournament

Bentworth 48, Turkeyfoot 28: In Greensboro, the Rams were blasted by the Bearcats.

Chris Kozlowski led Turkeyfoot with 11 points and six rebounds.

Girls basketball

Art Burkett Memorial Tournament

Somerset 57, Claysburg-Kimmel 18: In Portage, Eve Housley scored a game-high 18 points as the Golden Eagles soared over the Bulldogs in the consolation game.

Emily Rush scored 12 points for Somerset.

Windber Area Athletic Booster Association Tournament

Windber 48, Everett 36: In Windber, freshman Kaylie Gaye scored a team-high 13 points as the Ramblers topped the Warriors in the consolation game.

Shannon Tokarsky scored nine points for Windber. Harmony Jablon and Lexie James each netted eight points.

Forest Hills Tip-off Tournament

North Star 49, Conemaugh Valley 34: In Sidman, Grace Metz poured in a game-high 26 points to go along with 12 rebounds as the Cougars bested the Blue Jays in the consolation game.

Abby Barnick tallied 12 points for North Star.

Mountain Cat Tournament

Berlin Brothersvalley 42, Bishop Carroll 28: In Richland Township, Jenny Countryman scored a game-high 10 points to lead the Mountaineers over the Huskies.

Gracie Sechler scored nine points for the Mountaineers.

Berlin coach Rachel Prosser collected win No. 300. She is in her 17th season at the helm of the Mountaineers.

Non-tournament

Westmont Hilltop 76, Shade 43: In Johnstown, the Panthers were pummeled by the Hilltoppers to open the season.

Jenna Muha netted a team-high 28 points and pulled down 16 rebounds for Shade. The senior surpassed 1,500 career points and 1,000 career rebounds in the game.

Mountain Cat Tournament

Berlin Brothersvalley 86, Hollidaysburg 72: In Richland Township, Craig Jarvis dropped a game-high 28 points to go along with 10 rebounds to propel the Mountaineers to the title game of the 44th Mountain Cat Tournament.

Pace Prosser scored 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while Ryan Blubaugh chipped in 17 points for Berlin.

Pine Grill Roundball Classic

North Star 60, Everett 32: In Somerset, CJ Biery netted a game-high 15 points to guide the Cougars past the Warriors.

Andy Retassie scored 12 points while Brady Weimer added 10 for North Star.

Somerset 68, Shanksville-Stonycreek 42: In Somerset, led by Aiden VanLenten's game-high 19 points, the tournament host Golden Eagles dumped the Vikings.

Eli Mumau netted 14 points while Luke Housley and Caleb Platt scored 13 and nine points, respectively, for the Somerset.

Logan McCall paced Shanksville with 15 points. Christian Musser tallied 11 points.

River Valley Tournament

Windber 64, Penns Manor 55: In Blairsville, Grady Klosky recorded a game-high 18 points to lead the Ramblers past the Comets.

John Shuster dropped 17 points while Evan Brady added 10 points for Windber.

Mapletown Tip-off Tournament

Carmichaels 65, Turkeyfoot 30: In Greensboro, the Rams were upended by the Mighty Mikes.

Chris Koslowski paced Turkeyfoot with nine points and eight rebounds.

Non-tournament

Southern Fulton 55, Meyersdale 26: In Meyersdale, the Red Raiders suffered a non-conference setback to open the season.

Malachi Carr led Meyersdale with nine points.

Girls basketball

Art Burkett Memorial Tournament

Portage 64, Somerset 36: In Portage, the Golden Eagles were bested by the tournament host Mustangs.

Gracie Bowers and Emily Rush each netted eight points for Somerset.

Windber Area Athletic Boosters Association Tournament

Lakeview 35, Windber 19: In Windber, the tournament host Ramblers were knocked off by the Sailors.

Lexie James scored five points for Windber.

Forest Hills Tip-off Tournament

Homer-Center 60, North Star 16: In Sidman, the Cougars were routed to open the season.

Abby Barnick paced North Star with seven points.
