A two-vehicle accident with airbag deployment occurred at 12:12 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Stoystown Road and North Pleasant Avenue in Somerset Borough.
An on-duty sheriff deputy was driving one of the vehicles. He was transferred by ambulance to the hospital from the scene of the accident, according to members of the Somerset Volunteer Fire Department, who were assisting along with Somerset Area Ambulance and Somerset Borough Police Department.
The road was closed for approximately 90 minutes, according to Somerset County 911. A woman was flown by helicopter to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown, according to county officials.
Information on what happened is unclear at this time, according to Somerset County Sheriff Dusty Weir, who with other deputies were among the rescue crew at the scene.
"I pray for my deputy and for everyone involved," he said.
Members of Somerset Ambulance, Somerset Volunteer Fire Department and Somerset Borough police responded to the accident.
