This Somerset man's vintage Cadillac plays a big role in Ben Affleck's latest movie

SOMERSET — When Todd Arnone lent one of his vintage cars to a movie shooting in Boston, he wasn’t expecting it to play a big role in the film. But, the Somerset resident’s turquoise 1968 Cadillac DeVille has a highly visible role in "The Tender Bar," a new movie directed by George Clooney and starring Ben Affleck.

“I didn’t know when they borrowed it if they were gonna park it on the street or how it was gonna be used,” he said. But when he first saw a poster for the movie, “(Affleck) was sitting on my car.”

Arnone watched the movie, which hit theaters around Christmas and is now on Amazon Prime, and was taken aback by how noticeable his car is in it. In the movie, it belongs to Affleck’s character.

“It’s blue, it’s hard to miss. It’s a big car,” he said.

And without giving away the plot, it’s fair to say that the car plays a significant role in the movie, he said.

Arnone bought the car about five years ago on advice from a friend who also collects vintage cars, to add to his collection that’s now five cars from the '60s and '70s. That same friend told an inquiring casting company that was working on "The Tender Bar" to also reach out to Arnone about his cars. When they saw the Cadillac, they wanted to borrow it.

Now, his car’s role in the movie is a point of pride, something he can point out to his family and friends.

“They’re all being funny, like, ‘Can we have your autograph,’” he said.
