SOMERSWORTH — Somersworth High School has announced its top 10 students for the Class of 2022. Commencement will take place Friday, June 10 at 6 p.m. at the high school. The top10 students in alphabetical order are:

Albert Candra

Albert Candra
Albert Candra

Albert Candra is the son of Bobby and Cenny Candra. Albert will attend the University of New Hampshire to major in the Economics, Public Policy and Sustainability option. Also accepted to Suffolk University, Fordham University, Drexel University, UMass Boston and Lowell, and the University of Vermont.

Albert is an active member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, Class Council, Psychology Club and Upward Bound. Throughout his high school years, he has practiced his religious faith as a Muslim through involvement in the Islamic Summer Program and Zoom class through the Connecticut Nusantara Foundation. He was a thrower for the Track and Field Team for four years, and has achieved highest honors all four years. Albert also volunteered in the clothing drives, soup kitchens and UNH concession at sporting events.

Albert thanks his friends, family, and the incredible staff at SHS, and offers a special thanks to his Class Council Advisor, Ms. Sampson, as well as Science Teacher, Ms. Buchsbaum, with additional thanks to NHS Advisor, Mr. Seeley and Upward Bound Advisor Josh Gagnon.

Alexis Fox is the daughter of Melissa and Mark Fox. Alexis will be attending Great Bay Community College for Fine Arts. Alexis achieved highest honors and honors all four years at Somersworth High School. She was a member of the volleyball team for four years, and served as a Senior Captain for the team. Thank you to Mr. Hodsdon for being a good coach and teacher who always had jokes to make and to Ms. Ciancarelli and Mrs. Gibson for always ranting together during Advisor. Special thanks to my family and the friends who were always there.

Carli Gauvin

Carli Gauvin is the salutatorian of the Class of 2022, and the daughter of Norman and Kelley Gauvin. Carli will be attending the University of New Hampshire to major in English Teaching. Also accepted to Plymouth State University, Keene State College, Franklin Pierce University and Saint Anselm College.

Carli has been an active participant in Drama Club, Chorus and Select Choir and an active member of the National Honor Society, of which she was President, as well as Student Council, where she was secretary. Carli has received highest honors all four years of high school, and earned the National School Choral Award for chorus. She has been an historical reenactor in Somersworth Talking Tombstones, co-host for the broadcast of the Berwick-Somersworth Christmas Parade, and a volunteer at the Somersworth Pumpkin Festival.

Carli thanks her family and friends for their constant support and encouragement.

Cameron Green

Cameron Green is the Valedictorian of the Class of 2022, and the son of David Green and Tammy Green. Cameron will attend the University of New Hampshire College of Engineering and Physical Sciences in the Honors Program, majoring in computer science.

Cameron achieved highest honors all four years and was a participant on the Math Team Freshman through Junior years. He is a member of the National Technical Honor Society through the Dover CTC, based on his completion of a two-year Networking program. Cameron attended New Hampshire Boys’ State in July 2021, representing the Somersworth American Legion Post 69. In April 2022, Cameron achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, and has performed extensive community service through Scouting and with his family at the Dover Friendly Kitchen as well as various recreation department events. He is an avid skier and plays the piano.

Cameron offers his special thanks to Mr. LaBrie, Mr. Seeley, and Mr. Carrington for their continuous support and encouragement.

Patrick Ives is the son of Robbyn and Christopher Ives. Patrick will be attending Great Bay Community College, majoring in engineering science. Also accepted to New Hampshire Technical Institute.

Patrick played soccer for Somersworth High School as well as ROSO.

Patrick offers thanks to his parents and his sister for pushing him to strive for greatness, preparing him for the experiences and hardships to be faced in the future, and for guiding and believing in him. At this point in life, he also feels the self-satisfaction of achievement and looks forward to the new experiences and challenges that are in store in the future.

Nicolas Siagian is the son of Hisar Siagian and Dewi Susanti. Nicolas will be attending the New Hampshire Technical Institute to study dental hygiene.

Nicolas played Soccer, Basketball, Track, and Club Volleyball during his years at Somersworth High School, and was also President of the Interact Club and Class Council Treasurer.

Pakeezah Tariq

Pakeezah Tariq is the daughter of Tariq Nazir and Aasiya Tariq. Pakeezah will attend the University of New Hampshire majoring in business administration. Also accepted to Bentley University, University of Massachusetts-Boston, and Suffolk University. From Freshman to her Junior year, Pakeezah attended numerous arts programs from Arts in Reach, has taken a year of piano lessons, and has had a part-time job since Summer 2021.

Makaila Tavarez will be attending Plymouth State University to study nursing. Also accepted to Franklin Pierce University, Keene State College, University of New Hampshire, and Salem State University. Makaila was Class Historian for the Class of 2022 Council and a member of the National Technical Honor Society through her Medical Assisting class. She obtained her certifications for Phlebotomy and as a Certified Medical Assistant.

Patrick Thavisouk is the son of Vong Thavisouk and Sisouda Thavisouk. Patrick will be attending New Hampshire Technical Institute to study engineering. He was a member of the track team for the high school.

Patrick offers thanks to his friends, family, teachers, and coaches for supporting him throughout his high school years.

Calvin Ticoalu

Calvin Ticoalu is the son of Maya Cendrawasih and Vekky Ticoalu. Calvin will be attending the University of New Hampshire as an undeclared student in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences. He is honored to be one of the Top 10 students in his class though he feels it was “weirdly unintentional.” To explain, Calvin notes his supportive parents and family pushed and taught him educational and life skills. Also, his personal journey brings him to this point in his life, where the awareness of actions, habits and daily school work in the midst of the COVId-19 pandemic helped him harness a pathway of self-improvement. Again, his parents' unrelenting support helped change his focus to include success in school and life in general. Calvin’s efforts to widen his scope of physical and mental health has brought balance to building his best self at this point in his life, and he believes it will continue on. He does not regret trying and failing many times, and believes his success in school and simultaneously in all other aspects of life is a symbol of himself, Calvin Ticoalu. He says: "Thank you, Somersworth High School!"
